Law Firm Website Design

On average, over 76% of your potential clients search online for legal advice before engaging a legal professional.

If you're operating a Law firm or legal practice in Australia without a website, it is likely you're losing business to rival firms.

In the modern age of the Internet, it's essential that every Law firm invests in a professional website. Without a good website, it's impossible for you to educate potential clients about how your legal services can benefit them.

Questions About Law Firm Website Design

Here are some of the most common questions we get asked in relation to law firm websites and/or legal website design in Australia.

Why Does A Law Firm Need A Website?

In the year 2020 and beyond, none of your potential clients are looking in phonebooks, instead they are searching the web. It is common for everyday people to research Law firms and Lawyers online before committing to booking an appointment.

If you don't currently have a law firm website, you risk hurting the credibility of your Legal Practice and missing out on revenue.

How Can A Website Help A Law Firm Get More Clients?

The majority of your potential clients are using the internet to search for your services. A website is the best way to get your brand in front of people who are actively searching for legal advice or wanting legal representation.

A law firm website is the best way to show potential clients:

  • That you understand and empathise with the legal issues they are facing.
  • How you can get them a great outcome in their case.
  • Your firm's point of difference when compared to your other local competitors.
  • A list of your areas of practice or the specific legal services your firm offers.
  • Testimonials and reviews from other happy clients whom you've assisted.
  • The human side of your Law business including your mission, staff members, qualifications and company history.
  • How they can contact you and/or book an appointment.

If your website contains rich and high quality content about your legal services, potential clients will start to find you online through search engines. Your site will become an authority in the eyes of search engines and your clients if you update old information and continue adding new, accurate and high-quality content. Find out more about Search Engine Optimisation here.

As your website grows and continues to gain traffic from online searches relevant to your areas of practice, you will start to convert these new prospective website visitors into paying clients. The more targeted traffic your website receives from search engines and your other digital marketing tactics, the more chances you'll have to gain new clients.

In order to achieve the highest conversion rate possible, your legal website needs to be designed and developed by a team of professionals, like e-CBD.

What Are The Benefits Of Having A Legal Practice Website?

1. People will be able to find you online.

When people need legal services for themselves / a family member or need the answer to a legal question, they search online. Everyone assumes each local Law firm will have a website and if your firm does not appear in the search results, they will engage another practice or Lawyer who does.

2. A website increases the perceived credibility of your firm.

Generally, potential customers will take your business more seriously if you have a website. If you have a very good website, you have a unique opportunity to create a strong first impression and potentially gain a new client without doing anything on your end.

3. Websites help you to build trust with prospective clients.

People like doing business with people they know and trust (or people they feel like they trust). If your firm can't be found online, no-one can learn more about you or your specialist areas of legal practice.

Websites are the best place to provide all of the essential information a potential client would need to understand who you are, what you offer and how to contact you. If your website is strategically executed you can cleverly use the content (think FAQ's, qualifications and testimonials), images and explainer videos to build trust with a potential client.

4. You can showcase your expertise on your law firm website.

Your website is an opportunity to provide high-quality legal content to your current and future clients.  This content is usually reflected in long form, explainer legal articles which are designed to address common legal questions and/or common legal issues.

This allows you to showcase your knowledge and expertise in your areas of practice. It will also increase the visibility of your website in search engines which can result in landing new clients.

For example, a potential client may come across your site while searching for an answer to their legal question, engage with your comprehensive content / unique answer to their problem and then book an appointment with your Law firm.

5. Grow your business by generating more clients.

A website is an investment and the goal is to generate a return on investment (ROI). It goes without saying that an effective website will attract and convert more visitors into paying clients.

When your legal website is professionally and strategically executed with excellent content and strong calls-to-action, it will become a major factor in helping your Law firm to survive and thrive.

How Can I Get A Website Designed For My Law Firm?

There are a few different paths you could take when looking to create a legal website.

DIY Website Builders (Okay)

You have the option to try and build the website yourself using a tool like WIX, SquareSpace or Weebly. Some small legal practices and/or solo practitioners go down this path as a means of saving money.

One thing to consider if you are thinking of doing this is if you actually have the time to dedicate to learning how to build a website. Could your time be better spent serving your Legal business while you employ an expert to construct your Lawyer website?

This option is not recommended for most Law firms or solo Lawyers & Solicitors.

A DIY website is likely to provide very little value to you and even less of a return. It may even cause more problems than it solves in relation to your brand and digital marketing.

These DIY platforms don't scale very well so they can be easily outgrown. In many cases, you're also locked in to using their system and you don't actually "own" your website. This means your website has to be completely rebuilt if you ever want move to another provider.

Templates & Themes (Slightly Better)

You can choose to have your website built by a local web design firm or a freelancer using a website template. This method is cost effective, but you still may not get the positive results you are hoping to achieve from your website.

Again, this is not recommended for Professional Law firms or serious Legal Practitioners.

It is important to understand that a pretty looking WordPress theme or a website template originally created for a dental website is unlikely to be optimised to best serve your law firm and your clients.

When compared with custom web design, going the DIY approach or using existing templates/themes may save you a little money up front. However, it will most likely end up costing you much, much more in lost sales, missed opportunities and a battered reputation.

Custom Website Design & Development (Best)

A custom website is the ultimate targeted, user-friendly, high converting website solution.

Custom sites are specifically tailored to fit the needs of your Law firm, complement your digital marketing strategy and achieve your business goals.

Everything on your website from the design, layouts, colours, images and branding to the navigation structure, page hierarchy and calls-to-action have been strategically created to fit your business requirements and satisfy your customers.

Your custom website will be scalable so it can grow with your business as well as being SEO friendly so it can be optimised for search engines. You'll also be given training on how to log in to the back end and keep the website up-to-date.
