Hummosines — A web design and online advertising case study from e-CBD

Effective website design in a hurry

HummosinesThe Gold Coast is the limousine capital of Australia with more cars, and passengers per head of population than any city this side of Los Angeles. When Hummosines started their business in 2006 they saw a unique opportunity to capture a segment of the market who were bored with the usual white sedan services — it turned out that customised, 'blinged up' Hummer 2 Vehicles, converted into limousines were the answer to a large number of prayers.

And so it happened that exactly one week away from the 2006 Indy carnival, a time of year when the Gold Coast is teaming with car nuts (the prime target market), Hummosines were ready to launch their business, but were yet to build a website. Without a website they were going to miss out on a huge amount of potential business in the busiest week of the year, so a referral to e-CBD by a friend led them to our door and within three days we'd built them a schmick new site on a 'new business' budget. They were over the moon.

Successful Google Adwords Campaign

Hummosines AdWords AdOnce the site was up and running we also suggested they run a Google AdWords campaign, ensuring that people searching for Gold Coast limousines in the leadup to Indy week were going to hear about Hummosines. We carefully worded the ad to reduce 'tyre kickers' and ensure that people who clicked the ad knew what they were in for, rather than mistakenly going to the Hummosines website looking for the cheapest deal, and the pay-off was huge.

The two vehicles in the fleet were almost constantly booked out for Indy week, and the online advertising campaigns have been so successful since that Hummosines have kept adding more and more vehicles to the lineup, including a 12m stretch Hummosine capable of seating 24 passengers, making it the longest limousine in Australia.
