E-Commerce can be frustrating if you look at your analytics and see your visitors put something in the cart and then leave without completing a transaction. Or worse, leave during the last step of the transaction. Why did they bail? Was it something you did?
Most sites are built to just work. There’s no need to think about the user experience when it works…until you’ve only had 3 orders in as many months.

If I had to pick the 5 most important shopping cart usability features they would be:
- Allow me to checkout as a guest
- Only ask for information that’s needed to complete the transaction
- Show my progress as they go through the checkout process
- Be transparent, don’t surprise me with any extra fees at the end
- Use a fast, reliable server that won’t timeout when I click “Submit Order”
