Sentosa IslandSentosa is an island resort/theme park/beach area across the harbour from Singapore City. If you've been to Singapore and looked at the water around town you quickly realise it's not the sort of place you'd want to go swimming. Like The Thames or The East River, the main waterways around the city of Singapore are reasonably fetid; the kind of water you'd avoid coming in contact with unless a greater portion of your body was on fire. But after a few days in the tropical heat you ask a cab driver where you can find somewhere to swim and he says 'Sentosa Island' and you pay him ten Singapore bucks and he takes you there, and you cycle around, you don't feed the monkeys, and you cross the sway bridge to the ambitiously signed southern most point of mainland Asia (ignoring the obvious fact that Singapore is an Island and you are on an Island south of Singapore).
